Madison365

Madison365 is the state’s leading source for local community news by and about Wisconsin’s communities of color. Operated by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit 365 Media Foundation, Madison365 produces excellent journalism to start conversations, finds real and lasting solutions, builds community, invites action and encourages emerging leaders in Wisconsin’s communities of color, and fosters dialogue between members of diverse communities. We also train young people of color in journalism to diversify the news media.

Madison365 was named Media of the Year by the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce in 2018. In 2019, the national organization Local Independent Online News Publishers recognizes Madison365 with Best Breaking News Coverage and Publication of the Year.

Madison365 has published its Black Power and Sí Se Puede lists of the state’s most influential African American and Latino leaders every year since its founding, and in 2020 also added lists of the state’s most influential Native American and Asian American leaders. These lists highlight the beauty of the diversity across our state, and many will be attending the Wisconsin Leadership Summit.

Founder & CEO

For nearly twenty years, Henry Sanders Jr. (CEO and Publisher) has been a force for community development, economic development and entrepreneurship in the Madison area, in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest.He worked for the City of Madison and then-Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin before joining the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce as Vice President. In that capacity he started the Small Business Advisory Council, Latino Chamber of Commerce and the African wAmerican Black Business Association. Sanders is also the founder of the young professionals organization Madison Area Growth Network (MAGNET), Madison Network of Black Professionals, and Capacity 360, a government relations firm that brought more than $15 million to Wisconsin businesses.

Henry ran a statewide campaign for Lieutenant Governor in 2010 and in 2011 joined the Obama Administration as the Small Business Administration’s Region V Advocate, speaking up for small businesses across six states.

In 2018, Henry was named InBusiness Magazine’s 2018 Startup Company Executive of the Year, was given the Amigo Award by LaMovida Radio and was named Outstanding Experiential Learning Host by the Madison Metropolitan School District for allowing students to attend the Wisconsin Leadership Summit.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, and chairs its Membership Advisory Council.

Lead planner & Designer

Stephanie Díaz de León is a proven professional in outreach, engagement, and workplace diversity. She is the lead planner and designer of the Wisconsin Leadership Summit as well as all other summit and events for Madison 365 and 365 Nation. She is also the co-host of Madison 365’s daily podcast, “It’s Only 10 Minutes.” Stephanie is currently the Diversity Coordinator for the UW-Madison Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs’ Leadership and Engagement Division.
